The IFRC acts before, during and after disasters and health emergencies to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people.
The IFRC Secretariat has a decentralized structure: five regional offices (each with several CCST and country offices report to it) covering the globe and responsible for frontline delivery through National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, backed by the Secretariat HQ based in Geneva. The CCST Jakarta covers two countries, namely Indonesia and Timor Leste, and is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. It reports to APRO office in Kuala Lumpur.
CCST Jakarta is currently managing several emergency operations including the one in Central Sulawesi (Palu). The team in Palu consist of national and international staff supporting the response operation of the PMI after the earthquake, tsunami and liquefaction on September 28, 2018.
The Sulawesi emergency operation aims to support Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI) in delivering assistance to the needs of 80,000 people (20,000 HH) in different sectors like Health, WASH, Shelter, Livelihoods, Relief among others.
Under the Sulawesi emergency operation, the support to the response includes the reconstruction/rehabilitation of healthcare facilities in Sirenja, reconstruction new PMI branches in 4 affected districts and reconstruction community water storage in 4 affected districts. The operation aims to technically support other PMI initiatives implemented by the PMI if requested.
The position holder will be a member of Sulawesi Earthquake and Tsunami Operation team. Under the direct supervision of the IFRC Construction Manager, and close collaboration with the Health team, the Construction Officer will assist project management and construction of the Pustu, PMI branches and WASH Facilities. She/He will work closely with other IFRC technical leads and PMI technical staff with the aim of ensuring timely implementation of construction activities to meet the objectives of the Sulawesi Earthquake and Tsunami operation. She/He will supervise the work executed by the contractors and supervise and manage the construction worker, construction project team and execution of activities directly conducted by the IFRC.
