Job Responsibility Log Yard Operator (GANIS Certified): Job Duties: Efficiently organizing and managing the log yard to ensure smooth operations and logistics. Inspecting incoming logs for quality and quantity, and coordinating their storage and movement as per production requirements. Operating heavy machinery such as loaders, forklifts, and log-handling equipment to transport and stack logs safely and efficiently. Collaborating with forestry personnel and procurement teams to ensure a steady supply of logs while maintaining proper inventory levels. Adhering to safety protocols and environmental guidelines in the handling and storage of logs. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent educational background is often required. Prior experience in log yard operations, forestry, or related fields is advantageous. Proficiency in operating heavy machinery and equipment, along with knowledge of safety protocols. Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic work environment. Familiarity with log grading and sorting techniques, as well as basic understanding of wood species and characteristics. Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
