**Program Overview**

WRI Indonesia seeks to support the government, private sector, and communities in Indonesia to reduce its GHG emission through better management of its forest and land use, business operation, and livelihoods.
We utilize new technology, a multi-stakeholder approach, and research to provide the most up-to-date, accurate, and reliable tools, methodology, and data so that key stakeholders can take part in sustainable development.
To advance this cause, WRI Indonesia is championing an ambitious program to transform land use planning and management to be more inclusive and sustainable through several projects, one of which is
**Designing and Establishing a Successful Jurisdictional Public Private Partnership (PPP) to Improve Legal, Transparent, and Sustainable Palm Oil Initiative** at Banyuasin District, South Sumatra, Indonesia.
Through this project, we will support district-level governance for sustainable palm oil.
The project will focus on two main activities such as the establishment of PPP and the framework development of a sustainable palm oil supply chain.
This will also promote the improvement of sustainability, legality, and transparency in any aspects of palm oil management.
In the end, at least a district-level policy such as the making of RAD KSB (Regional Action Plan for Sustainable Palm Oil) would be drafted by the PPP series forum, adopting the framework as the main component.
**Job Highlights**

**The Field Assistant** will be responsible for providing technical and operational aspects, notably for research-based activities in implementing and managing WRI's key initiatives/portfolios in the prioritized sites and districts.
The main responsibility will include implementing the project plan; supporting policy and regulatory development; establishing Public Private Partnership (PPP); supporting the making of a monitoring framework to improve the supply chain, and supporting the compliance of district-level producers to transition towards legality and sustainability

This position will work on four (4) main activities such as: establishing Public Private Partnership (PPP) for sustainable palm oil at the district level; supporting the monitoring framework to improve supply chain transparency; encouraging district-level producers to transition towards legality and sustainability, and supporting the policy and/ or regulatory development through contextualizing monitoring framework of sustainable palm oil.
In terms of administration, the Field Assistant will be based in South Sumatra Office in Palembang, with frequent field travel within South Sumatra province and its prioritized districts, as well as other places as may be assigned.
This position will report to South Sumatra and Aceh Senior Program Lead/Sustainable Commodity Expert and coordinate to Supply Chain and Livelihood Transformation Senior Manager.
**What You Will Do**
The Field Assistant's main areas of responsibility will include the following:
**Technical Works and Research (70%)**
- Identify policy issues and potential institutions to strengthen forest and land governance practices at the district level.
- Engage government sector related to palm oil, and local enterprises, including micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
- Collaborate with the district government to establish a multi-stakeholder platform as a primary vehicle for jurisdiction PPP.
- Ensure the multi-stakeholder forum meets regularly and advises and monitors the progress of forest and land use governance and jurisdictional sustainability over time.
- Conduct a series of focus group discussions and interviews to support capacity building on the establishment of PPP.
- Assess challenges faced by local enterprises and relevant recommendations.
- Utilize tools and approaches, such as the Land-Use Planner, GFW Pro, SWOT, AFi (The Accountability Framework initiative), Terpercaya Indicators, STDB, and FGI (Forest Governance Indicators) as appropriate.
- Support the development and implementation of a framework and indicators for jurisdictional sustainability monitoring under the Terpercaya initiative

**Project Management and Communication (30%)**
- Collaborate with program/project lead and regional team to actively communicate relevant programs and activities, and liaise closely with key government agencies, the partners implementing similar programs as well as civil society organizations.
- Planning and designing program/project by translating project logical framework into strategies and work plans at the Provincial and district level, including the risk management for the programs/projects' successful outcome.
- Support and assist Sustainable Commodity Expert as well as Forest and Land Use Governance Specialist in preparing monthly updates, quarterly reports, and final reports.
- Support the development of Tor for research activities and/or procurement during project implementation.
