Geotechnical Laboratory Manager
Geotechnical Laboratory Manager is indispensable to our Marine Geotechnical service line foundations and future. Beyond the important role of guaranteeing quality in our geotechnical testing, laboratory manager steers the day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring they run seamlessly and effectively. The manager is entrusted with the responsibility of aligning our operations with stringent contractual standards, safeguarding our company's reputation and client trust. Leadership and expertise are expected to directly influence the successful execution of engineering and laboratory testing projects, adhering to our contractual commitments and overall financial health of our geotechnical division, as well as the light geotechnical works in geophysical division.
Geotechnical Laboratory Manager actively engages key internal stakeholders across the Marine Geotechnical service line, such as work package managers, lead engineers, to ensure project delivery excellence. In broader perspective, the manager collaborates with project managers, department head and finance team to ensure alignment in goals, facilitates informed decision making and drives cohesive strategy, ensuring our execution and deliverables are consistently top tier and in sync with organisation broader strategy and objectives. At times, the manager may also need to collaborate with other service lines like marine geophysical service line, onshore geotechnical service line etc.
Laboratory Management and Operations- Oversee daily operations of the geotechnical laboratory, ensuring equipment is calibrated, maintained and operational- Establish and enforce safety and procedural guidelines for the laboratory- Ensure accurate data collection, analysis and reporting for all laboratory tests- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment
Team Management- Hire, train and mentor geotechnical laboratory engineers and technicians- Allocate tasks and monitor workloads to ensure timely completion of testing- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and promote training opportunities for staff
Technical Leadership- Provide insights for applicability of testing and test results- Remain updated on industry standards, best practices and emerging trends in geotechnical testing- Collaborate with geotechnical engineers and other stakeholders to optimise testing protocols
Quality Assurance and Control- Ensure compliance with ISO 17025, relevant industry standards and regulations- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control system, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results- Address any discrepancies or anomalies in test results promptly and efficiently
Client and Project Management- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide timely updates- Collaborate with project teams to ensure that testing is aligned with project objectives- Participate in meetings, workshops and presentations, representing the laboratory's interest
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferable in Civil or Geotechnical. Post graduate degrees or diplomas are preferable.- Minimum of 5 years of experience in laboratory testing with a proven record in a managerial or supervisory role.- Relevant experience in leading ISO 17025 accreditation by Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN).- Minimum 3 years of experience with proven track record in managerial or supervisory role.- LIMS experience will be an added advantage.- Familiarity with MS office. Proficiency in Excel VBA will be advantageous.- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.- Fluent written and verbal English proficiency.
