As a matter of priority, GFANZ is working with local and global partners to unlock transition finance in support of emerging markets and developing economies seeking to accelerate their energy and wider net-zero transitions. Our work is organised through a cross-cutting CEO-led workstream on Mobilising Capital, regional networks in Asia Pacific and Africa, and country-specific work in support of G20/G7 Country Platforms and Just Energy Transition Partnerships (JETPs).
**We'll trust you to**:
- Serve as the main GFANZ point of contact in-country, building and maintaining excellent relations with key in-country stakeholders across government, as well as international partners, multilateral development banks, development finance institutions, and private and financial sectors
- Develop an excellent sense of the JETP energy transition priorities and how those can be delivered on effectively, spotting opportunities to support the government in their objectives, and work patiently to deliver complex policy, project and financing work that unlocks tangible results
- Work closely and seamlessly with the GFANZ leadership, central secretariat and regional networks to advance common priorities and draw on wider expertise and resources, including colleagues dedicated to capital mobilisation/JETPs
- Have a clear sense of the contribution that private finance - local and global - can play in contributing to wider efforts towards a successful JETP, and ensure that GFANZ and its members deliver the input needed to the JETP deliverables in a timely and effective way such that we unlock financing for transition
- Ensure that the approach being taken at the country level aligns with the broader frameworks and approaches being developed across GFANZ's capital mobilisation work, and input your practical expertise into our wider capital mobilisation and regional efforts, so that we actively learn by doing and make progress on cross-cutting issues around private capital mobilisation for energy transition
**You'll need to have**:
- Experience of working in country including a network within energy transition and/or climate finance
- Proven experience of working effectively with local public and private sector stakeholders and building relationships across levels of leadership
- Expertise in some combination of energy transition, policy contexts, and climate finance. Experience in at least two is expected and all three would be an advantage
- A certain level of technical understanding within the power system would be an advantage
- Strong ability to take a strategic approach while also delivering practically as part of a complex multi stakeholder project
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Bahasa is an advantage but not a requirement
- A strong team player, able to work constructively and collaboratively across local and global stakeholders
