The GIS Specialist reports to the Geomatics Business Unit Leader.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide technical leadership in implementing remote sensing and geomatics projects and services, especially related to carbon projects.
- Design, test, and implement innovative workflows for acquiring, processing, and analyzing large time-series satellite remote sensing and GIS datasets.
- Develop workflows to integrate remote sensing and GIS data with other data sets from multiple sources.
- Design validation experiments and compare measured results with ground truth data.
- Perform fieldwork as required for collection of project data.
- Organize and manage data collected in the field, and ensure all data are carefully stored and safely transported to head office in Bogor.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget while striving to achieve the highest possible level of quality control on all outputs, documents, and maps produced.
- Communicate clearly with non-technical environmental specialists regarding requirements.
- Lead and contribute to technical proposals and reports.
**Education and Experience**:
- At least five years of experience in the use and operation of ArcGIS for Desktop or QGIS.
- Experience with a wide variety of remote sensing data sets (e.g. LiDAR, UAV, Sentinel-2, Landsat, and SAR) to conduct image analysis to deliver information to clients.
- Experience in processing and analyzing imagery with GIS and remote sensing software such as PCI Geomatica, ArcGIS, QGIS, and SNAP.
- Experience in a consulting environment is preferrable
- Experience conducting business development with existing and prospective clients
- Experience in constructive problem-solving and ability to analyze requirements and recommend solutions.
- Strong attention to organization, detail, and record keeping.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia; including effective questioning, listening, and presentation skills.
- General computer skills (MS Office suite).
- For national citizens: preference will be given to Indonesian nationals but international specialists are also encouraged to apply.
**Skills and Other Assets**:
- Programming skills (i.e. Python, JavaScript, and HTML5).
- Knowledge and experience of spatial data management.
- Ability to communicate regularly, professionally, and clearly at general, technical and management levels to inform team members, science teams and the science user community.
- Ability to manage small

- Knowledge of random forest or other machine learning algorithm analysis would be an asset.
