**Responsibilities**:
- Overseeing geotechnical engineering functions related to design assessments for operational sites.
- Ensuring the annual maintenance and update of geotechnical and hydrogeological models for all sites.
- Assisting sites in creating operational plans for mining through intricate geological structures.
- Conducting regular site visits and inspections to uphold high standards in implementing ground control management plans.
- Leading post-implementation reviews of designs and assessing success for future enhancements.
- Supervising investigations into slope failures to identify causal factors and communicating findings for organizational learning.
- Reviewing and auditing geotechnical design processes and outcomes for excavations, cutbacks, waste dumps, heap leach pads, and water-bearing structures to ensure safety and stability.
- Assisting sites in managing and mentoring geotechnical and hydrogeological engineering professionals.
- Taking charge of people development within the discipline.
- Developing geotechnical work scopes and consultant scopes as well as Managing geotechnical projects.
- Ensuring inclusion of geotechnical considerations in life-of-mine (LOM) and budget development for optimizations, pits, and schedules.
- Proficiency in developing or peer reviewing geotechnical stability models (2D & 3D) from Operations.
- Peer reviewing geotechnical monitoring program development and results, ensuring fitness for purpose, including groundwater, sub-surface, prism, and slope stability radar & InSAR.
- Ensuring operations have robust programs validating underlying assumptions, encompassing field testing, mapping, rock testing, monitoring, and 3D models.
- Establishing links between operational groundwater programs and geotechnical stability models and designs for open pits, infrastructure, dumps, and stockpiles.
- Developing company standards for ground control, logging, testing, monitoring, and designs.
- Ensuring standardization of geotechnical practices across all operations.
**Key Requirements**:
- Minimum of 15-20 years of work experience in Project Management, preferably in the mining industry
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar
- Proven expertise in Projects including mining operations covering production and other operational functions such as Industrial Relations, Maintenance and Engineering
- Prior experience working with global mining company, particularly in a matrix organization with experience with both open pit and underground mines
- In depth knowledge of the mining industry and legal requirements
