Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The function actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, across financial and non-financial risk taxonomies. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join this team in the role of **Head of Wealth and Personal Banking Risk**
**Responsibilities**:
The Indonesia Head of Wealth and Personal Banking ("WPB") Risk is a senior leader in the HSBC Indonesia Risk team and is the single point of contact for Risk Management Director (CRO), WPB Business Head, and Regional WPB Risk to manage oversight of the enterprise-wide risks presented by the WPB business. They ensure that the organisation is protected through risks being captured, understood, clearly communicated and that potential sources of loss are minimised in a cost-effective manner, at the same time supporting the business to achieve sustainable growth and revenue targets.
- Ensure appropriate risk management structure, policies, processes and strategies are in place to enable and protect the WPB business. Set and monitor appropriate risk appetite. Provide effective challenge to the First Line and Risk Stewards of WPB to set the direction of the business with appropriate understanding of stakeholder priorities. Timely escalate any areas of concern or emerging trends in both the financial and non-financial risk areas;
- Directly responsible for credit risk across the full credit lifecycle (Secured and Unsecured) of Acquisition and Account Management strategies; working closely with First Line of Defence as risk steward for the operational elements. Help to set the credit risk appetite parameters for new account acquisitions, account management, new product creation and ongoing portfolio management and review of performance through analytics;
- Exercise active risk management. Define guardrail credit performance parameters that are monitored in credit performance dashboards for the identification of early warning signals;
- Ensure that all areas of credit and risk management comply with OJK Regulations and with approved policies;
- Supports the Risk Management Director and works with the Operational and Resilience Risk team to ensure that the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) are being appropriately managed and provide effective challenge to the WPB NFR profile.
The job holder has Principal Accountabilities such as:
- Drive delivery of objectives in line with organisational strategy enabling the achievement of the Bank Business Plan and WPB Strategy;
- Directing major projects or programmes with significant business impact within Risk and WPB business unit;
- Instill a proactive and joined up management approach to ensure WPB Risk are working together with WPB Business units as well as other Risk sub-functions in Indonesia and more widely to actively share lessons learned and opportunities for streamlining;
- Provide expertise to support and enable stakeholder priorities;
- Act as leader of the WPB Risk team, providing clear direction, actively guiding and supporting professional development, developing future leaders, attracting and retaining talent, and continuing to enable the WPB Risk team to be best in class.
- Management responsibility for team(s), set performance targets for subordinate managers and drive a high performance culture.
- Ensure the Bank is always working in the best interests of customers in line with Treating Customers Fairly guidelines;
- Attend as appropriate Financial and Non-Financial Risk forums/governance meetings and ensure that WPB key emerging and existing risks are appropriately reported to HBID Governance Forums and Board;
- Ensure effective management of IFRS9 implementation and compliance, model management (e.g. credit scorecards, BASEL and IFRS9 models), forecasting activities, and stress testing.
Qualifications
**To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements**:
- University graduate (min. Bachelor Degree)
- In-depth knowledge of risk management, particularly in relation to the retail banking credit, with insights on sector trends
- Understand Risk and making decisions in highly complex situations where there are potentially major consequences for the business
- Broad knowledge of sector trends and regulatory environment
- Take personal accountability, be decisive, use common sense, empower others
- Communicate openly and honestly. Ability to provide expert guidance to the line of business
