Greetings,
I am reaching out on behalf of Academian, an Ed-tech services partner specializing in learning services and designing digital educational ecosystems. We are currently conducting an in-depth study to assess the feasibility and market dynamics of expanding operations in the higher education domain for one of our publisher clients in four untapped Asia markets: Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
To ensure a comprehensive understanding and informed decision-making, we aim to test several conditions that are pivotal to our strategic planning. These conditions encompass the perspectives and behaviors of instructors, students, the market landscape, competitors, institutions, and our internal capabilities. Below, I have outlined the key areas we wish to explore:
**Instructors**:
- Openness to global authors for higher education (HE) course materials and the necessity for localized content and examples.
- Willingness to use HE course materials from global authors, including translated materials.
- Adoption culture for third-party published content and advocacy for textbook or course material usage among students.
- Likelihood of adopting our existing product models (MLM in English, Etext, Revel, Print, possibly Channels).
- Presence of an authorship culture among instructors for sourcing SMEs for local publishing.
**Students**:
- Willingness to pay for ebooks and the acceptable price range.
- Willingness to use and/or purchase our higher education publishing client's eText.
- Current spending on specific educational resources and compatibility with our pricing.
- Access to laptops for courseware usage and buying course materials strongly advocated by instructors.
**Market**:
- Size and value of the local language Total Addressable Market (TAM) in relevant courses and disciplines.
- Enrollment in courses driven by local regulations warranting local publishing.
- Competitiveness of our higher education publishing client with local resource prices.
- Availability of reliable wifi for students on-campus and at home.
**Competitors**:
- Presence of entrenched local competitors and difficulty of competing against them.
- Adaptations by large competitors indicating proven opportunities and potential challenges for global publishers.
**Institutions**:
- Pattern of strong institutional purchases and the impact on projected numbers.
**Educational publishing and services client**:
- Understanding of resource funding mechanisms and alignment with our business model.
- Clarity on purchase channels for classroom resources and eCommerce readiness for these markets.
**Other General Needs**:
- Competitive market scan of key publisher products used in English and local languages.
- Identification of apprenticeship opportunities and workforce upskilling needs.
- Insight into 'book in use,' instructors' teaching support methods, pain points, and assessment processes.
**Types of data required**: Qualitative and Quantitative.
We are looking to use different types of methodologies such as surveys, questionnaires, interviews, and also secondary research, where applicable. We believe that your expertise in market research can significantly contribute to this study. We are interested in discussing how we can collaborate on gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data to test these conditions.
Please let us know your availability for a meeting to discuss this further. We are keen on exploring how we can work together to achieve our objectives and expand our presence in these promising markets.
Thank you for considering this opportunity. I look forward to your positive response.
Best regards,
