The Plant Sanitation Supervisor oversees and coordinates food safety and sanitation programs within a food manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing plant cleaning, ensuring compliance with GMPs, USDA standards, and safety practices.
**Requires hands on working experience and knowledge of sanitation and sanitation processes in a food processing plant** Must be able to work 12 hour overnight shift**  Requirements/Knowledge: Experience leading or supervising a sanitation team in the food and beverage industry, or experience in quality supervision/management specific to the dairy industry.
Chemicals, Cleaning in Place (CIP), Cleaning out of Place (COP), membrane cleaning, evaporator cleaning, dairy, and cheese processes. Plant Sanitation Supervisor Key Responsibilities: Interacts with the facility quality assurance/sanitation staff, plant management and crewmembers to verify food safety, quality, sanitation performance and ensure compliance with specifications.  Oversees all activities pertaining to food safety and regulatory compliance. Oversees all activities pertaining to product quality and compliance with product specifications.  Oversees all activities pertaining to sanitation to ensure compliance to all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and cleanliness standards while executing timely start-up of the plant each production day. Develops and maintains all Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and the Master Sanitation Schedule. Consult and advise plant manager on food safety and quality issues/deviations. Track, trend and lead problem solving efforts, including determination of root cause and preventative measures on food safety and quality issues/deviations. Provide ongoing communication to plant management team regarding food safety and quality performance. Responsible for the knowledge, understanding, and enforcement of all company policies and regulations. Take steps as needed to control potentially unsafe or poor quality product.  Supervise adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in sanitation procedures. Monitor and audit cleaning systems and procedures for processing and packaging equipment, adjusting as necessary to ensure optimal cleanliness. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory sanitation food quality, food safety, employee safety, and environmental standards. Collaborate with management and production personnel to address sanitation issues and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and cleaning effectiveness. Perform comprehensive sanitation audits for each production process, communicate findings and trends, and participate in weekly sanitation or quality meetings. Conduct training programs on sanitation procedures and oversee the development and training of sanitation personnel in coordination with production, both in-room and on the floor. Understand chemical specifications and their proper application for various processing/packaging equipment SSOPs. Conduct scheduled sanitation validation audits to inspect critical equipment for proper cleanliness and sanitization. Participate in the commissioning of new equipment and process expansions, monitoring the progress of CIP validation completion on site. Ensure appropriate coverage of sanitation activities on site. Maintain and revise departmental procedures, including the master sanitation schedule and SSOPs, to reflect process improvements and maintain hygienic conditions. Review and maintain sanitation documentation for Quality Assurance and regulatory review, working closely with the Quality team. Develop cost-saving measures for chemical usage, monitor chemical waste, and identify opportunities to improve cleaning time and efficiency. Build partnerships with production, quality, and human resources to meet production and personnel goals. Follow up on waste disposal monitoring, plant water sampling, and CIP rinse water as needed. Skills and Abilities: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Continuous improvement mindset, seeking ways to enhance quality. Ability to work closely with production and quality teams to improve sanitation and microbiological compliance. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Strong communication skills, ability to work autonomously and within a team. Critical thinking and root cause analysis. Commitment to working safely and promoting safety practices and behaviors. Bilingual Spanish a plus! Third shift/Overnight, 12-hour shift Schedule can be 3×12 or 4×12 work week depending on production needs.
