Job Responsibility Secondary School Inclusion Support Coordinator: Purpose Of The Role :
To lead and manage the Inclusion Support Department within the secondary areas (EAL, SEN, Counselors, Gifted & Talented,) To be responsible for leading and developing the provision of inclusion support To facilitate and encourage learning which enables students who require access to support for learning to achieve high standards and maximum progress To ensure the school meets all its statutory duties in relation to the education and care of students as specified by the various IB documents This includes preparation of reports and the organisation of relevant meetings. To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students with special learning needs To support the programme and curriculum coordinators to ensure all aspects of teaching and learning are aligned with our Teaching and Learning policy. To effectively manage and deploy other teachers in the department along with physical resources To prepare an annual Inclusion Support Department Development Plan. Evaluate its implementation annually. Main Duties: Strategic direction and development of inclusion support provision in the school and use this information to update the Inclusion Support Handbook Lead the development of policy and practice that relates to learning support Support all staff in understanding the needs of students that have specific learning needs and advise on the development of the curriculum and resources. Liaise with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure the best provision for all these students. Keep up to date with and respond to local and national developments in learning support education and care. Provide regular information to the Secondary Principal and SMT, and the Governing Body, along with an evaluation of the effectiveness of provision for students with learning needs. Maintain an up-to-date register of students with an identified learning needs within the School. Be responsible for coordinating the diagnostic testing and baseline testing of students on the learning support register and those new to the school, and liaise with the admissions to ensure relevant provision is put in place. Identify, model and disseminate the most effective teaching and learning approaches for learning support students. Coordinate the collection and interpretation of data to monitor the progress of students supported by the department Be accountable for the progress of students with learning needs Contribute to whole school priorities such as literacy development, numeracy and teaching and learning. Undertake an appropriate timetable of support - ( Open and dependent upon the needs of the school e.g. the role of an EAL teacher ). Ensure all members of staff recognize and fulfill their statutory responsibility to students on the register, championing their cause at all times. Ensure all statements are properly reviewed and supported and formal assessments carried out as necessary. Prepare appropriate plans for students on the register, including appropriate curriculum differentiation. Staff and Resources Be responsible for the deployment and management of Support for inclusion staff. Arrange and lead departmental meetings and briefings as appropriate. Raise awareness of the needs of inclusion support students within the school. Promote teamwork and motivate staff to ensure effective working relationships. Advise on, contribute to and, where appropriate, coordinate the professional development of staff to increase their effectiveness in responding to students on the register. Advise the Secondary Principal regarding priorities for expenditure and deployment of staff and utilize allocated resources with maximum efficiency. Maintain and develop resources, coordinate their deployment and monitor their effectiveness in meeting the objectives detailed in the School's Strategic Plan. Relationship with parents/carers and the wider community Prepare and present informative reports to parents/carers. Meet with parents/carers as and when appropriate. Attend Parents' Evenings as per the school calendar. Professionalism Take responsibility for your own professional development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy and in the developments in the subject you teach. Support the implementation of school policies and practices. Set a good example to the students you teach, and the colleagues you lead, in your presentation and your personal conduct. Evaluate your own teaching and aim to continually developing its quality. Further conditions of service : To undertake any other responsibilities as may reasonably be directed by the Secondary Principal. To support and maintain the school's vision and mission Follow and implement all school policies. Job Expectations : All applicants must hold an S1/S2 qualification from Psychology/ Counselling Guidance Department Excellent English skills.
