As a Steward, you will be an essential member of our restaurant's back-of-house team, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen and dining areas. Your role is crucial in supporting the culinary and service teams, ensuring they have a clean and organized environment to deliver an exceptional dining experience to our guests.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **_Dishwashing and Tableware Management_**: Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, tableware, glassware, and utensils efficiently to maintain a continuous supply for the culinary team and dining service.
- **_Cleaning and Sanitation_**: Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the kitchen, prep areas, and dining spaces, adhering to strict sanitation standards and health department regulations.
- **_Waste Management:_** Properly handle and dispose of waste, including recycling initiatives, to minimize the environmental impact and maintain a tidy kitchen environment
- **_Kitchen Equipment Maintenance_**: Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, such as ovens, stoves, grills, and fryers, to ensure their proper functioning and longevity.
- **_Stock Management:_** Keep track of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment needed for the stewarding department, notifying supervisors of low stock levels as necessary.
- **_Safety Compliance_**: Follow safety guidelines, including the safe handling of chemicals and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment
- **_Collaboration with Team_**: Work closely with the stewarding supervisor, culinary team, service staff, and management to maintain efficient workflows and a hygienic dining environment.
- **_Hygiene and Sanitation Support_**: Assist in adhering to food safety and hygiene protocols, ensuring a clean and safe environment for food preparation and service.
- **_General Cleaning Duties:_** Perform general cleaning tasks as required, such as sweeping, mopping, and maintaining restroom cleanliness.
- **_Ad Hoc Assistance_**: Provide support to various departments as needed during busy periods and special events.
**Qualifications**:
- Previous experience as a Steward or in a similar role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of cleanliness and sanitation practices in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction from supervisors.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and during extended hours as required.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
