**Job Description**:
**Warehouse**
- Determines space requirements for storage and schedules delivery and distribution of products, parts, and accessories to achieve distribution objectives and meet customer requirements.
- Ensures the efficient and economical utilization of facilities for storing and distributing raw material and finished goods inventories.
- Analyzes the physical distribution system to ascertain whether it is functioning according to the needs and objectives of the company and coordinates the design and implementation of surveys, revised procedures, and facility changes.
- May participate in the selection of sites for plants, shipping centers, pool points, and warehouses.
- Analyzes data on markets, existing facilities, competition, costs, and measurements.
- Prepares and analyzes inventory reports to identify slow-moving and/or surplus stock.
**Inventory or Material Control**
- Controls inventory of raw materials and work-in-process.
- Provides information to determine status of current orders and to forecast needs for future orders.
- Compiles records of amount, type, and value of material or stock on hand.
- Monitors reorder points and initiates action to replenish stock.
- Controls inventory of finished goods for sales warehouses, distribution centers, and factory mixing points to meet sales and distribution demand.
- Responsible for inventory levels, inventory positioning, and planned production and sales forecasts.
- Reconciles discrepancies in inventories.
- Coordinates with traffic, production planning, and warehouse personnel to ensure appropriate routing, scheduling, and storing of goods.
**Planning/Scheduling**
- Develops raw material requirements and scheduling requirements from engineering specifications and production schedules.
- Plans and manages material movement with purchasing, warehouse, and production. May negotiate lead times with suppliers and manage schedules for timely delivery.
- Develops and/or reviews master production schedule and work orders, establishes priorities for specific customer orders, and revises schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, materials, machines and equipment.
- Responsible for the assignment of target start and/or completion dates/times for manufacturing or processing operations. Also includes the selection and sequencing of available positions or processes and assignments to individual work centers or lines.
**Logistics**
- Controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between points of origin through customer placement in order to meet customer requirements.
- Ensures that customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints in order to meet marketing and financial objectives.
- Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes, such as the replenishment system, data interchange systems, demand management, electronic data systems administration and related functions.
- Develops requisitions for and manages records of equipment, components, repair parts and related manuals; tracks logistics materials and parts for proper allocation of storage facilities; and reviews configuration changes to evaluate impact on logistics deployment.
- Conducts distribution and network studies, monitors inventory and analyzes requirements in order to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and order fill rates.
**Shipping/Receiving**
- Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and/or receiving duties which may require the use of hand trucks, forklifts, and other devices, as well as computers to maintain data.
- Majority of the tasks are clerical. Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment.
- Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials; prepares records of materials shipped and bills of lading; routes materials to destinations.
- May lie out, fabricate, and assemble nonstandard shipping crates and boxes, and prepare parts and tooling for special shipment.
**Traffic/Transportation**
- Plans, schedules, and routes inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments of freight, using knowledge of postal regulations, tariffs, and company policy.
- Schedules with carriers, reconciles freight bills, prepares and negotiates claims, and selects or recommends carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and least expensive movement of goods and material.
- Conducts research on transportation methods, rates, and routes. Develops programs to audit and monitor carrier rates and charges and evaluates past performance and cost of transportation.
- May negotiate transportation rates in accordance to company guidelines and standards.
- Ensures that carriers are notified for freight pick-up and that the freight is routed properly; prepares bills of lading and shipping manifests; traces shipments and obtains proof of delivery.
