Accountant (Dili, East Timor)

Reporting to either the Group Accountant or Senior Management, this role holds accountability for overseeing the complete accounting cycle within the country. Responsibilities encompass managing both month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring adherence to the company's accounting policies and industry standards. The primary objective is to maintain precise and consistent financial accounting practices.

The work of assignment for this role will be in Dili, East Timor.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Oversee day-to-day finance operations ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial data for managerial use.
- Review and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets and profit & loss statements, ensuring proper recording of income and expenses.
- Manage taxation processes, including preparation of tax returns for various entities and compliance with governmental regulations.
- Supervise payroll procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
- Handle general accounting matters such as maintaining registrations, liaising with external parties, and executing risk management strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for management review, analyzing financial performance and identifying areas of concern or improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company information and adhere to established corporate standards and policies.
- Undertake additional duties assigned by management.

**Qualifications to be successful in the role**:

- A bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years in a managerial accounting role experience.
- Proficiency in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Strong accounting knowledge, including financial statement analysis and account consolidation skills.
- Experience with accounting software and systems for efficient financial management.
- Ability to navigate various software and utilize technology for accounting purposes.
- Efficient time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, including mentoring, training, and guiding team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication for effective reporting and collaboration.
- Proficiency in financial and tax planning strategies for business optimization.
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing accounting regulations.
- Uphold confidentiality standards concerning sensitive financial information.
- Ability to maintain and enhance the company's profile and respected reputation.
