**About the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade**
The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia's security, enhancing Australia's prosperity, delivering an effective and high quality international development program, and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas.
The Department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia's pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
**About the section**
The International Policy & Security Section provides analysis and advice to the Australian Government on foreign policy developments in Indonesia and actively builds networks and relationships to help strengthen the broad-ranging bilateral relationship. The Section often leads on managing high level visits.
**About the position**
Working under limited direction, the Senior Program Manager, is part of a small team that manages maritime programs and provides policy advice to inform Australian Government policy and programming both in-country and in Canberra. The primary function of the officer is to manage the implementation of maritime programs that cover legal, governance, security and environmental issues. This includes monitoring and evaluation of programs, and financial and risk management. The Senior Program Manager also leads in-country organisation of maritime-related events including Maritime Dialogues and provides expert policy advice in relation to domestic and regional maritime issues.
