Manager, Communications (Corporate Affairs)

**Objectives of the Position**:

- Provide communications leadership and advisory to country management team on all corporate affairs related matters, develop and implement strategic direction and goals for country Corporate Affairs to build trust and awareness in the BASF brand including managing outcomes and quality and contribute to the success of the business by ensuring alignment and consistency of messaging in the country.
- Member of the Asia Pacific Communications community and liaison with the community for all country related communications activities.
- Lead and responsible for all core communications activities in the country including brand management, advocacy and stakeholder relations, issues management and crisis communications, media relations, change and internal communications, community engagement, business and industry communications, online communications and communications team excellence.
- Responsible for leading the country Corporate Affairs efforts and working together with the Communication Service Hub to achieve the objectives.

**Main Responsibilities and Key Activities**:
**Brand Management**
- Implement a consistent brand image for the country as part of regional/global branding strategy.
- Identify opportunities to preserve and enhance the brand in the country, including in employer branding.

**Advocacy and Stakeholder Relations**
- Develop stakeholder engagement strategy.
- Identify and facilitate opportunities for dialogue, engagement and cooperation with local authorities, business associations/chambers of commerce, and industry stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of regional advocacy strategy, ensuring an integrated approach and transparency in managing country issues and activities.

**Issues Management and Crisis Communications**
- Work closely with colleagues across the organization to identify and manage current and emerging issues that impact/affect the organization.
- Work closely with regional communications network to build strategic communications plan to pro-actively manage issues to protect and enhance company's reputation and brand.
- Serve as a full member of the Country Incident Management Team, ensuring crisis preparedness and provide communications advice during crises/incidents.

**Media Relations**
- Design and implement PR strategy for media management in the country, ensuring good coverage of company topics in the media.
- Work closely with business units to identify PR topics, develop news releases and briefing documents for media interviews and top management speeches.
- Ensure consistent implementation of One Voice Policy across unit and location in the country.

**Change and Internal Communications**
- Design and implement effective change and internal communications programs and activities such as newsletter, town hall meeting/other employee meeting, internal campaign and employee communications material and messaging.
- Develop and implement change communications plan to support specific projects.
- Support the Managing Director in all change and internal communications activities.

**Community Engagement**
- Plan and manage societal engagement activities in the country.
- Identify opportunities to engage employees in community projects.

**Business and Industry Communications**
- Collaborate with business unit teams to build and promote the brand through marketing communications activities (product launches, plant opening/upgrading, customer events, trade fairs and exhibitions, industry forums and conferences, product advertising, promotional materials development, photo shoot and video development).
- Support Industry Teams in all communications matters.

**Requirement**:

- Tertiary qualifications/Bachelor Degree in Mass Communication or equivalent.
- 7 - 10 years working experience in corporate communications, public relations or marketing.
- Strategic thinking to ensure programs planned and executed deliver tangible business value.
- Conceptual thinking and creative.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English.
- Excellent working knowledge of standard computer programs.
- High commitment and willingness to work hands-on.
- Ability to build organizational alignments.
- Ability to work with people of all levels, with both internal and external stakeholders.
