- PATH has been working to support advancement of health equity in Indonesia through technical partnership since the 1980s. Our current portfolio in Indonesia includes work to support health care providers and communities prevent and respond to communicable and non-communicable diseases, advance digital health innovation, and address global health security priorities.
- PATH is seeking a Program/Gender Officer, based in Jakarta who will work under the "PHC Transformation Cadre Integration Project". The project is designed to take a gender-intentional approach to designing digital support tools and a telehealth prototype connecting community clients, cadres and Puskesmas doctors in recognition of the differences between women and men cadres in digital tool literacy, smart phone ownership, and preferences regarding digital technologies, as well as client preferences regarding online and in-person case management and screening that may differ by gender identity.
- The Program/Gender Officer will coordinate with project team members, partners and stakeholders to facilitate the integration of gender-responsive and gender-transformative approaches within project activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Responsibilities:
- Work closely with key project staff to implement assessments of healthcare cadre workforce gaps, including gaps impacting GBV service availability; the capacity of the health workforce to address gender-related barriers to care experienced by individuals of all gender identities and expressions; and gender inequities within and across cadres in terms of health workers' advancement, remuneration, and access to resources that impact performance.-
- Design and implement a gender-based analysis related to health cadres' digital tool use, skills and preferences as part of the project's activities to will define and develop a prototype of an integrated digital tool that supports the ability of integrated care cadre to deliver a wider range of services to diverse populations.-
- Incorporate gender considerations in designing an evaluation of the community PHC transformation model implemented through this project. This includes identifying gender-responsive approaches in the evaluation design, data collection and analysis in ways that refine understanding of the patient journey for women and individuals of marginalized groups at different life stages; clarify the extent to which gender norms and social determinants act as barriers to effective primary health care leadership; and determine how the focus on digital tools and systems helps meet the needs of women and marginalized groups.-
- Work closely with the project team to generate gender-responsive evidence that can be used in advocacy for national policy changes and financing for health cadres and digital support tools, including telemedicine.-
- Work closely with the project team and partners to integrate gender considerations throughout human-centered design activities to support healthcare cadres core competencies.-
- Contribute to donor reports/presentations.-
- Contribute to development of the project workplan and project budget.-
- Other tasks as required.- Required Experiences and Skills:
- Bachelor/Master's degree with a minimum 5 years of job-related experience in public health, health sciences, medicine, and gender;-
- Understanding of the primary health care health system in Indonesia, including knowledge of the community health system;-
- Strong interest in public health, medicine, and gender;-
- Experience working with range of PHC stakeholders in Indonesia, including government, local partners, donors and CSOs.-
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.-
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively with teamwork environment with solid interpersonal and verbal communication skills;-
- Field oriented and comfortable with a team approach to programming-
- Excellent judgment, strategic thinker, strong initiative;-
- Strong oral and written proficiencies in Bahasa Indonesia and English;-
